Self-care and self-love simply go hand in hand, you cannot have one without the other. The moment you have one the other follows.
If you love yourself, you will automatically take good care of yourself.
If you take good care of yourself, you see that you are worth loving and you will begin to love yourself.
They belong together, they are one and the same, one without the other doesn’t make any sense.
What comes first? Do you have to love yourself first before you can take care of yourself or do you take care of yourself when you don’t feel you are worthy of being taken care of, how does that work?
It’s hard to start taking care of yourself when you don’t even like yourself (let alone love yourself). But, YES, absolutely. That is where you need to start.
Remember, self-care is anything that makes your life easier, lower stress levels, relaxes you, calms you, makes you smile, relieves pressure from you (physical or mental), makes you feel good…
You could start with baby steps, just doing one thing each day to start a self-care plan.
Some example of simple self-care steps to take today:
· Take a walk in the park, on the beach, by a lake or river.
· Create a home spa and relax with a face mask and a foot soak.
· Curl up with a good book.
· Have an early night.
· Eat healthy all day
· Drink lots of water (if you don’t already)
· Start exercising
· Do the thing you’ve been putting off (that is playing on your mind)
All of these are self-care, and all of these will help you on the way to loving yourself and discovering that you are worthy of love and care from others, but most importantly, that you are worthy of it from yourself.
