Do you ever decide that you need to make changes in your life and start saying your positive affirmations only to get side tracked and stop after a day or so?

A reminder of why you started them maybe the thing to help here. A reminder is different from an affirmation in the sense that it is not something you will want to keep repeating as it can be worded negatively, this is to hit home and wake you up to why you wanted to make the changes in the first place.

Such as:

·         I will not let self-pity impact my ability to be happy

·         I will stop telling myself I am not worthy because I am worthy.

·         It’s not that I can’t afford it it’s because I have a scarcity mindset – change it!

Written in this way serves as a stark reminder but would be an ineffective affirmation due to the ‘can’ts’, ‘stops’, ‘nots’ etc and self-pity and scarcity are not things we want to affirm to ourselves.

But, putting something like this on a post it note on your bathroom mirror, back of the bathroom door or somewhere else you will see it can serve and a powerful reminder to say your positive affirmations to counteract the mindset or belief you already have that is not allowing you to live your best life.

Create affirmations to reflect what you want and make sure they are in the now – no ‘I will’s’ or ‘one day’s’ or even ‘I want’s’. If you affirm it is in your future, it will stay in the future, you will never catch up to it – say it in the here and now.

Examples of reminders and their counteracting affirmations you could use to change your belief/mindset you currently have into the one you want:

Reminder: I will not let self-pit impact my ability to be happy.

Affirmations:

·         I have the power to change my life for the better, and I am doing so now.

·         Today I am building the version of me I wish to become.

·         I am worthy of all the good things life has to offer.

·         I am surrounded by abundance of positivity and opportunities.

Reminder: I will stop telling myself I am not worthy because I am worthy.

Affirmations:

·         My self-worth is not determined by others.

·         Self-love empowers me to be my best version of me every day.

·         I am deserving of love, compassion and empathy from myself and others.

·         There is something in this world that only I can do, that is why I am here.

Reminder: It is not that I can’t afford it it’s because I have a scarcity mindset – change it!

Affirmations:

·         I trust in my abilities to create a life of abundance and happiness.

·         I am delighted every time I check my bank account.

·         It is easy for me to acquire money and wealth.

·         Money comes to me from expected and unexpected sources.

The reminder is not something to repeat but to glance at then go straight into your positive affirmations, have them ready before you put up your reminder (you could write these out and pin them up next to the reminder)

Reminding your self of your ‘why’ you started wanting to say affirmations and make changes will remind you to say them morning, noon and night adding to your determination to say them out loud, say them with conviction, say them with feeling – for this is where the magic happens.
