Create A Vision Board that Really Works with a Paint & Sip Night with a Difference

Updated: Jul 27

Paint sets and brushes on a table surround paper reading "Manifest your Dream Life with a Paint & Sip Night with a Difference."

Do you and your friends ever sit around talking about what you want to change in your life or what you would do if you won the lottery?

Dreaming of a life that you really want but feel you can never have?

Have you thought about making a vision board but never got around to it?

If you really want to make changes or create/manifest something new in your life having a vision to keep you focused, and inspired will help enormously. Using a vision board to clearly map out your vision can be a powerful tool and is popular with many successful people to make things happen.

Do vision boards work and if so how?

Vision boards work by helping you to get a clear vision of what you really want. So many of us know we don’t want what we currently have but we don’t know what we really want to replace it with. So getting down to the nitty gritty of what you actually want in life is half the battle. Dig deep and decide what it is that will make you happy. Then it’s gaining the belief that you can have it, and that you are worthy and capable of achieving it. Having a clear vision helps with that too.

Some people prefer to call vision boards, action boards, as although you do need to have a vision to manifest, you also have to take action to manifest and create. Wanting to earn more money or move counties, have a new career, find a new partner etc. no matter how many vision boards you create you will not get any of them if you don’t take inspiration from your visions and start working towards them. You must take action!

What kinds of things should I include on my vision/action board?

Quite simply, anything and everything can be put onto your vision/action board. Think about which areas of your life you would like to make changes or improvements to.

·        Career

What is your dream job? Where is it based, what do you look like, how would you dress for this role?

·        House/Home

Dream house, where is it, what does it look like inside and out.

·        Relationships.

Partner, friends, family… what do you want these relationships to look and feel like?  What qualities do you want these relationships to embody?

·        Social Life

Who are you with, what type of people do you want to meet, what kind of social events and venues do you wish to frequent?

·        Travel

Do you want to travel alone or with friends or your someone special? Where do you want to go? For how long? How often do you want to travel?

·        Physical Health

Could you be healthier than you are? Do you need to give up unhealthy habits? Add new healthy ones, such as eat more fruit and vegetables, drink more water? Do you need to lose or gain weight to be healthy?

·        Mental/Emotional Health & Wellbeing

Do you want to learn how to meditate? Be more mindful and take time out to do the things that relax you and bring you joy?

·        Fitness

Exercise? Do you need to add more and up your game or have you neglected your physical health and want to start a regular exercise routine. Walking – 10,000 steps a day, running, yoga, pilates, team sport, joining a gym?

·        Education

To get your dream job is there something you need to learn first? Or is there a subject that you are fascinated with and would like to know more about? Education doesn’t have to be formal unless the role you want demands it. You can undertake learning something new by reading books, watching documentaries, or taking an online course.

·        Car

Do you hanker after a new car, is there a particular make or model that you can’t get out of your head. Picture yourself driving that new car.

·        Clothing/Style

Are you wishing you could get out of your comfort zone and wear a certain style of clothing or maybe it’s a brand you can’t quite afford to buy just yet?

·        Awards/accolades

Are there any awards or accolades you desire, are you an actor wanting an Oscar, Bafta or a Tony award? Are you a writer wanting to be awarded the Pulitzer Prize or make the best sellers list? Are you after one of the highly sort after Nobel Prizes?

Me? I’m after my YouTube Silver Play Button (plaque) for my first 100,000 subscribers.

·        Finances

This one is probably on almost every one's vision/action board as even though we know money doesn’t bring happiness, but it does bring freedom… freedom to walk away from toxic people places, freedom to try new things, freedom to create the home environment we want. Freedom to follow our passions. How much do you want?

How do I create a vision/action board?

A vision/action board needs to represent a clear and concise vision of what you want. You can add words but they should be limited to individual words not sentences. The rest should be made up of images.

For instance you could have an image of a airplane, a passport with lots of stamps in it and the word TRAVEL above it.

Or a couple of images of a person practicing yoga with the word YOGA or FITNESS with them.

You could create the traditional vision/action board using a pin board with pictures cut from magazines or downloaded from the internet (I love my one of these, and update it regularly)  or you could make it more personal, and possibly more fun to create and host a paint and sip night with a difference!

Grab some canvases from your local store – I spent just $5 on my one from my local K-Mart and it cost me about $10 for the paints and a packet of paintbrushes.

Think about what you want to manifest, now I am no artist so I penciled mine on first then away I went, the more I got into it the more creative and confident I became, not just in the painting but in my ability to manifest and create the dream life I want.

You don’t have to be a skilled artist to enjoy this or to produce a perfectly good representation of where you want your life to go, and what you want to create and manifest. Even for people like me who are not naturally gifted when it comes to drawing or painting, this is such a fun way to get your mind to relax and focus on the goal.

You could have so much fun doing this on your own, especially if you are not ready to share your goals and dreams yet, you could also plan a night in with your partner, your bestie or someone close to you and create them together. You could even host a Paint and Sip evening with a group of trusted and supportive friends and make it into a celebration with drinks and nibbles accompanied by some motivational music in the background. Whether you do it alone or with friends, before you begin set the scene and create a positive atmosphere, put on your music, make a cuppa or pour a drink, light a scented candle or switch on the diffuser. Get your vision clear in your mind, imagine how it will feel as it all becomes real for you, now put all that positive energy into your paintings making them even more powerful.
