Stop Editing the Past and Start Writing Your Future

Woman sitting at a desk writing in a journal with blog title 'Stop editing the past and start writing Your future.

Have you ever wanted to make big changes in your life but don’t know how or if you even can? Do you feel stuck in the past, reliving it in your mind wishing it was different?

Is there a life you dream of, one where you get to achieve goals you dare not set for yourself, one where the best version of you gets to live your best life possible?

If you are dreaming of a better future, you have to first make peace with the past.

So many of us spend our time reliving the past that we forget to make a future for ourselves. The little movie in our mind that plays out the past scenarios, the ones that caused us pain or discomfort, trauma or embarrassment. The one’s where we got hurt and no one said sorry…

We go over them to try and make sense of them, or maybe there’s a little part of us that thinks that if we play it one more time it will play out differently this time and all will be good in the world again, but it never does.

We can’t change the past, we can make peace with it though. Perhaps it’s time to stop editing the past and start writing the future.

The past has been and gone and there is nothing we can do about it, we can’t change it or correct it to how we imagine it should have been, but we have the power to create any future we desire.

The power lies within your thoughts, change your thoughts, and you change your life.

You are the projector not the screen. Change the reel within and the scene outside will follow. Your thoughts have to align with the new version of you before the new version can exist, the old version of has kept you stuck in your old life with old thought patterns.

Think about what you DO want, not what you don’t want or what happened in the past, but what you want your future to look like.

Change your thoughts and change your expectations, if you expect the same life to show up day after day, it will.

As your thoughts and expectations change so will your outlook, you will begin to see new opportunities, you’ll have new ideas and the inspiration to make them come alive.

You’ll begin to make small changes, you’ll no longer want to do some of the things you’ve always done, and you’ll begin to do things you once only dreamt of.

Notice your daily habits and get into the habit of asking yourself ‘does this support the life I am trying to create?

Old habits can keep you stuck in old routines. Old values may have no place in your new life. Takle these as you become aware of them.

Write down what you want your new life to look like, immerse yourself I it, see it, hear it, feel it and even smell it, create e a clear vision and visit it often.

Don’t limit yourself, get inspired, get creative. Don’t go to all this trouble just to create a mediocre life, the universe is unlimited, and so are you.

Limitations only exist in the mind, let them go and open yourself up to the infinite possibilities that await you.

It’s often the fear of letting go of the old life that stops people from starting a new one.

Let go of the past, let go of your fears, let go of other people’s opinions and their expectations. Focus on what you want and the person you are becoming.

Miracles start to happen when you give as much energy to your dreams as you currently do to your fears.

The power of changing your life and manifestation lies within your thoughts, your feelings, and the actions you take.

Focus on these and your life will become unrecognisable for it is when you have all three in alignment, that change becomes inevitable… that’s where the magic happens.

It's time for you to start living the life you imagined.

Oh, and don’t forget to celebrate! Celebrate every win you have. No matter how big or small. Every win is a win.

Every step you take towards your new life, every time you release yourself from something in the past, it’s all progress and every bit of progress is worth celebrating!
